What is lipidomics?
Like the other “-omics” (genomics, proteomics) that deal dynamically with molecules that exist in living organisms, lipidomics studies the molecules known as lipids (ie fats).
It studies not only the structure, but also the function and the variations that come to be determined in different physiological and pathological situations, therefore it considers the lipids as elements inserted in the complex of cellular metabolism.
When is it useful to run the FAT Profile®?
In physiological situations related to the quality of life:
- Dietetics and nutrition
- Aging
- Sport activity
- Monitoring of pregnancy and lactation
In pathological situations:
- Dermatology
- Allergies
- Immunomediated diseases
- Identification of risk factors in the cardiovascular field
- Dyslipidaemias and metabolic disorders
- Obesity
- Ophthalmology
- Neurodegenerative diseases
- Autism
- Depression
- Cystic fibrosis
- Lipidomic analysis141 bis
And more generally: in all situations in which you want to set up a food and nutraceutical strategy to improve the quality of life.
How to perform the FAT Profile®?
Simply perform a simple venous blood sample, which will be sent to Lipinutragen Lipidomics Laboratory and will be processed and analyzed. It is also necessary to complete a questionnaire with a history and eating habits. This examination is performed as part of the medical examination and the interview with the specialist.
